Quite simply a bargain, this 50cm Indesit is perfect for small kitchens, and while you don’t get the luxury of two separate compartments, the main oven here still gives you a generous 58 litres of Conventional cooking space. Having higher heat at the top of the oven means that you’ll be able to cook different dishes at different rates and have them both come out exactly the way you like.

The hob up top is unique to our Top 5 and couldn’t be simpler to use. The 4 solid plate burners don’t just make the basics wonderfully easy, but because the whole unit is sealed, it’s a doddle to clean too. You’ll even be able to keep the rest of your kitchen uncluttered thanks to the handy Storage Drawer in the base of the cooker. Drop your pans in there while you’re not using them and keep your worktops clean and clear.

Made right here in the UK this Belling is a great example of top quality. It's an incredible price when you think that it comes with an induction hob. This is the most efficient type of hob you can get. It works using magnetic fields to heat the pan itself rather than the hob, making it loads quicker and much more efficient too. 

With a total of 108 litres it’s certainly big enough to cook dinner and sides for 4 or 5 people and you get Fan and Conventional heat. It means you can choose which heating elements you use, depending on your dish. Fan cooking gives even cooking which is great for roast chicken, while conventional is best for pies and pasta bakes as it gives you beautiful golden brown tops.

If you’ve left dinner in the freezer this Belling has a dedicated Defrost Function. It uses room temperature air to thaw out your frozen foods in a third of the time – it’s much more hygienic than leaving it on the worktop too. Don’t overlook the A/A efficiency rating either. You’ll spend just 8p every time you use it, so you can cook away with worrying about the cost.

Perfect for smaller kitchens this Beko is just 50cm wide, yet it still gives you an impressive 86 litres of total capacity. The top 23 litre space is just for your grill, so if you’re making bacon sandwiches for the family, this is ideal. Down in the 58 litre Conventional oven you’ll find the heat is more intense at the top of the oven than the bottom. If you’re a fan of steak and ale pie or even the odd cauliflower cheese, this is your kind of oven.

While you will have to clean this oven yourself the interior has been coated with Beko’s Easy Clean Enamel, so dirt and grease lifts off with very little energy. Talking of energy this Beko is wonderfully efficient, with both the grill and the main oven earning an A rating for energy use. It’s always good to know you’ll be cutting down on your bills while you’re preparing your meals.

Full of useful features and offering a very unique style this Leisure ‘Mini Range’ simply has to be in my Top 5. It’s roomy enough for an average 4 person family thanks to the combined total of 110 litres, plus you’re getting both a Fan and a Conventional oven – great for trying your hand at lots of different dishes. The 65 litre fan oven gives you completely even heat, which lets you use lower temperatures and shorter cooking times to get the same tasty results.

The ceramic hob is simple to use so you’ll get right on with cooking and since each of the 4 zones offer different sizes, they’ll suit your varying pan sizes nicely. It comes with stay clean liners too that make cleaning a breeze.

Equally good at saving money the A rating shows just how savvy with electric this cooker is. Not only will you save cash on your bills, but you’re doing your bit for Mother Nature too. Fantastic value from Leisure.

In at number 5 is this Zanussi model. It's one of the biggest oven capacities you'll find on a cooker, holding 74 litres, which is why it's in the Top 5. There's a separate grill cavity above too, so it's really flexible - you can cook and grill at the same time. The oven comes with a fan, so it distributes air around the whole cavity. This means whichever shelf you put your food on, you'll get a even cook. You won't have to preheat the oven for ages either so it should help you cut down on cooking times.

Up on the hob you get 4 ceramic zones that cater for a range of different pan sizes. It'll be a doddle to clean too as there are no fiddly pan supports to deal with. The controls are really clear too and are on a slight angle so you can easily see what temperature you're setting it at.
