Top 5 Double Ovens

Independently reviewed. Perfectly priced.

My winner is something a little special. Not only does it look fantastic, it's really safe too. Isofront Plus keeps the outside of the door at a low temperature, so it's brilliant if you've got kids in the house. There's no chance of them burning their fingers.

It's a good size, giving you 68 litres of space in the bottom oven and 43 litres in the top oven, so there's plenty of room for the average family. The Hot Air Fan System is brilliant too. To make sure you get a really even heat throughout the main cavity, it circulates the air. This means it'll cook your food more quickly and it'll be cheaper to run too.

The second cavity is a conventional oven, which means it'll always be hotter at the top than at the bottom. This makes it ideal for browning food like lasagne or pasta bake.

The interior is diamond glazed, so it'll be really easy to wipe clean and there's a defrost setting too. This is loads more hygienic than leaving things out on the side to thaw. It works by circulating room temperature air around your food and it's much quicker too.

Another stainless steel model, the Hotpoint at number 2 is spot on. It’s very similar to the one above, holding 100 litres in total, and you’re getting Hotpoint quality here. The main oven holds 65 litres, while the top oven holds 35 litres. Like the two above, there’s a bigger fan oven to provide even heat, while the smaller top oven is conventional and also has a grill.

There’s a defrost setting and a circulaire roasting setting in the main oven, like you’ve seen on my winner. The best bit (and what you don't see on number 2) is the catalytic liners. They absorb cooking grease and splashes, then burn them off at high temperatures, so cleaning will be a breeze.

You’re also getting a great energy efficiency rating here as it’s A rated, so it’ll be cheap to run. There’s a digital timer so you can programme the oven to start and stop when you want it to and an oven light in the main oven lets you see what you’re cooking.

Slightly smaller to the ones above, this Beko comes in stainless steel. It looks very modern, and with 65 litres in the main cavity and 33 litres in the second, there’s plenty of room for a family.

The main fan oven not only has an easy clean enamel interior that will make cleaning it a breeze, it also has air cooled doors which helps to keep them cool while you’re cooking. This is a great feature if you’ve got kids in the house. The second cavity has a conventional oven and grill, so is great if you’ve just got something small to cook.  It also has easy clean enamel liners like the main oven.

The easy grip control knobs make using this appliance simple and there’s a programmable LED timer too, so you can set the oven to turn on and off at your time of choice, without even going near it.  Both ovens are rated A for energy efficiency, so it’s not going to cost you very much to run either.

My number 4 is fantastic. You’re getting the excellent build quality you’d expect from Zanussi, plus it looks fantastic in stainless steel too. It's a great size with 68 litres of space in the main oven and 47 litres in the top, which is plenty of space for a family of 4.

The main oven is fanned, so will give you even heat that’s great for cooking lots of the same thing at once, while the top oven is conventional. This means it’ll be hotter at the top and is great for browning food like cottage pies. It has a grill too.

The ovens come with catalytic liners like you’ll have seen on some of the others. This means you won’t have to spend hours scrubbing away as spills and splashes will be burnt away at really high temperatures. The electronic clock and timer will help keep track of your cooking so you don't have to remember a thousand things at once. No more excuses for burnt fish fingers!

The Neff at number 5 is brilliant. Not only are you getting fantastic build quality, but it's a really good size too. There are 67 litres of space in the main oven and 35 litres in the smaller cavity, so there's plenty of room for a family.

I'll be a breeze to clean as the back wall and roof have CeramiClean liners. They will absorb then oxidise the grease produced when you cook. The dirt is then burnt away at really high temperatures. The other surfaces have TitanEnamel and are really easy to wipe down as they're nice and smooth.

The main oven is multifunctional, which means it gives you loads of functions. It has CircoTherm technology, where a powerful fan draws air from the interior of the oven, heats it up and forces it back into the cavity through ducts. You'll rarely need to preheat as the oven gets hot super quick, and air won't escape when you open the door either, saving you energy. There's a handy defrost setting in there too, which is loads quicker than leaving things out on the side to thaw

The top oven is conventional and gives you different zones. The top always being hotter than the bottom so it's ideal for getting a crispy base on your pizza. You get a grill in there too.
