Buying a large appliance such as a washer dryer can be a big investment, so you want your appliance to be as efficient as possible when it comes to running costs.
A washer dryer with a high energy rating will save you water, electricity and will save money on your energy bills. To allow you to see which the best models are at a glance, most white goods sold across Europe now have an EU Energy label. This includes a rating of how energy efficient a machine is and also gives a rating from A-G (with A being the best) to the washing and the drying performance, these are scored from ‘A’-‘G’ with ‘A’ being the best.
The majority of washer dryers are ‘B’ rated, ‘A’ rated models are also available and will cost slightly more to purchase but less to run. Some manufacturers offer ‘A+’ rated models which are 10% more energy efficient than ‘A’ rated models.
For the most energy efficient washer dryers, look out for the Energy Saving Recommended logo. Only washer dryers that comply with the Energy Saving Trust’s most stringent criteria are endorsed.
