And the winners are....

thanks for entering

The votes have been counted and verified and I can now reveal that the four winners of the sought after Russian doll measuring cups are....

Jill Louise D

"I like mine served by George Clooney, who is my naked butler (I`ll take the eggs any style...I dont think  I'd notice the eggs to be honest! ) haha"

We just loved Jill’s cheeky answer! It had has all giggling in the office, and to be honest, I wouldn’t mind my eggs served in exactly the same way ;)

Judie Ellis

"I sometimes like my eggs poached and on toast...I also like my egg fried with a sausage on the side.

An omelette in a bagel is really quite nice, but an omelette goes very well in Chinese Fried Rice.

But a chocolate egg for Easter is a bit of a treat...especially 'my favourite' - one that contains lots of Quality Street!"

Judie’s poem caught our eye straight away. Read it aloud and you’ll see what we mean.

Katie Coldicott

"I like mine on a Fry-day."

Short and sweet, a cracking (get it?) pun from Katie

And our twitter winner is...

Miss Procrastination

"I like mine baked, in a pretty vintage teacup with crème fraîche, dill & gruyère & baguette slices for posh soldiers!"

When we read Miss Procrastination’s entry, it made us all hungry. These are the poshest eggs I’ve ever heard of! Hats off to her.

Thanks to everyone that entered and to findmeagift.com for the lovely prizes. Commiserations if you haven’t won but don’t worry because we’ve got plenty more goodies to give away. What’s that? There’s another competition coming soon with the biggest and best prize yet!

Jeepers! Make sure you don’t miss out and keep your peepers peeled on the 25th April.

What one customer had to say about Appliances Online

You may have noticed the customer testimonials that flow through our website. Hearing feedback from our customers, good or bad, is what we live for. It helps us to deliver the best possible service, and gives us the chance to make every single transaction with us a happy one.

Recently, we received feedback from a customer called Jane; a first time buyer from Appliances Online. We really appreciate that she took the time to go into detail of her rewarding experience, and were so blown away by what she had to say we knew we had to share it!

Here’s what Jane had to say:

If anyone had ever tried to persuade me that buying white goods could be an inspiring experience I would have said they were mad! And then I landed on Appliances Online and suddenly my consumer antenna was tingling like a tingly thing. I didn’t really want to buy a new machine; was quite resentful in fact. But after my old LG came to the end of its lifecycle with a dramatic bang recently I was forced to venture forth into this unchartered territory. But where to begin? There are hundreds of brands, a vast price range, free standing and integrated models, together with a choice of wash load, spin speed, energy rating and other mind boggling features. Then when you’ve managed to decipher all that, there’s the matter of colour to cloud your indecision; white, black, silver, granite, and I bet if you look hard enough, sky blue pink with yellow dots on.

So here’s the good news; Appliances Online website cuts through all the clutter. Easy on the eye and easy to navigate, it puts the fun into online shopping with a capital F. There’s loads of choice, the facility to refine your search by brand, features, colour and price. I was even impressed with the jaunty product descriptions, some of which achieve the impossible of making washing machines sound sexy. For many of the products there’s also a video where you get to see the machine in ‘action’ accompanied by a presenter who appears to have a genuine passion for the product.

As for the Appliances Online price promise it’s certainly not thinly veiled and on the whole they are the cheapest. I did find two machines cheaper elsewhere but they offered a price match without hesitation.

This is not just a faceless cyber business. There are real people behind the website, who answer the phone quickly, are friendly, knowledgeable, and – get this – call you back when they say they will. Yes, just when you thought it was too dangerous to ever shop again, I can confirm customer service is alive and kicking in the North West.

Since my need to know more about washing machine decibel levels led to grilling a long suffering sales consultant, I ended up placing my order over the phone rather than online. This I found to be a quick and simple process that triggers text and e mail confirmations in a nano second! To my even greater delight what then followed was a series of calls and texts updating me at every stage, eventually drilling down the delivery time slot to within an hour. Two days after placing the order and bang on schedule, I received a phone call from the driver to let me know he was ‘on his way’. The delivery men arrived wearing huge grins and were in with the new and out with the old in a matter of minutes. Removal and disposal of the old machine costs only £9.99 so a great bargain in my view.

Wonderful stuff. This is sales, marketing, and operations working in perfect harmony. So good in fact I have only one small criticism - Whilst you do have the option to e mail your basket, I would like to see a save your selection feature so you can revisit it at your leisure.

Other than that Appliances Online is a shining example of online retailing. At the front end, the website graphics, copywriting, navigation and competitive pricing present the products in an irresistible light and their post sales service is so slick its impossible not to be bowled over.

I will be back. My dishwasher is now showing signs of old age!

There are many cogs running at Appliances Online that work to ensure every customer gets the same experience as Jane. Her words have helped to reassure everyone at Appliances Online to keep up the good work, and aim to have every customer delighted with our service as much as Jane was.

Was it worth burning your bra for?

trouser label

Long ago in an era gone by, there was a small movement called feminism...I don’t know if you missed it but the makers of these trousers clearly did. Yes this label really was sewn into a pair of trousers sold in a well known high street store.

Should we women make a bra with a 10 point instruction manual on how to remove it sewn into the seam? How about a nightie with ‘I’m not in the mood tonight dear,’ emblazed on the front? How well do you think it would go down?

When it comes to his turn to do the dishes, bubbles go flying, a plate or two is broken, too much washing up liquid is used, and the kitchen ends up looking like a Magaluf foam party! It all goes so wrong they never have to do it again...do they think we were born yesterday?!?!?! Well, no more ladies...

In the spirit of Mother’s Day and the revival of feminism, I declare this weekend a laundry free zone! Put your feet up, direct your other half to the washing machine – draw him a map if he needs one – and let him do it for a change.

Interview with an expert

If you don’t already know, the team at Appliances Online are experts in their field. Each category has a designated expert who’s on hand to answer any questions you might have. Intrigued? I know I am.

lucy

This week we’re catching up with cleaning guru, Lucy. (Cleaning includes washing machines, washer dryers, tumble dryers and dishwashers, although you’ll soon see which Lucy’s favourite is).  She’s the product trainer at Appliances Online and what she doesn’t know about appliances isn’t worth knowing. Let’s see what she has to say about the cleaning products of 2012...

A: Hello Lucy. First things first, Appliances Online sell a lot of different types of appliances. What is it about cleaning that peaks your interest?

L: My favourite cleaning appliance is a dishwasher because it’s an appliance I truly appreciate. When you think about it, most people have never lived without a washing machine, oven or fridge freezer, but pretty much all of us have lived without a dishwasher at some point. Now I’ve got a dishwasher, I really value the benefits.

A: A lot of people think a dishwasher is expensive to run, in terms of it wasting a lot of water, but this is a common misconception. Tell us more.

L: Well Amy, that’s what so interesting about dishwashers. Dishwashers on average save between 30 and 40 litres per wash load compared to washing up by hand!

siemens sn26t595gb

A: Not to mention, the lack of washing up by hand must keep your hands nice and soft?

L: Absolutely!Dishwashers are much more hygienic because they wash your dishes at around 70°C, killing bacteria – a much higher temperature than your hands could stand. Just think how much bacteria builds up on your sponge if you wash up by hand.

A: So, which dishwashers would you recommend for a first timer like me?

L: Well Amy, that completely depends on your budget. The best models out there have to be Siemens. They’re packed full of features and functions and they’re soo energy efficient, so cheap to run. The IQ-700 SN26T595GB is a favourite, it’s A+++ energy rated and has a HydroSensor to utilise every drop of water. If you want something a little bit more affordable, I’d go for the Hotpoint Aquarius FDL570G. It can hold 12 place settings so it’s suitable for cleaning up after a family of 4 and it even has a 25 minute quick wash for when you’re in a rush.

A: A quick wash is a feature that would definitely come in handy at my house. Thanks for your time Lucy.

Well, I’ve certainly learnt something new. I hope you have too. Keep your eyes peeled for the next expert interview. Who will it be?
