I don’t think so and neither do the Energy Saving Trust! The average household completes over 274 washing cycles every year – that’s over 22 cycles per month (1). With so much energy being used every year, there is a lot to be saved by switching to
energy efficient washing machines – surely?
According to the Energy Saving Trust switching to energy efficient washing machines can save up to 1/3 of the energy used during an ordinary washing machine cycle! (1) In addition to this, making this switch can save up to 45 kilograms of co2 and £11 a year off the average household electricity bills per year (1). So, even if you’re not really a keen environmentalist, surely you wouldn’t turn down the opportunity to save money on your energy bills to spend on something more exciting – like a trip down to the cinema or a couple of drinks with friends – I know I wouldn’t!I know that one of the main worries when buying energy efficient appliances is that they will be more expensive or they won’t have the right features, but this is simply no longer the case. Modern energy efficient washing machines boast all the features you could ever need in a washing machine, such as; fast spin speeds, variable spin speeds and temperatures, quick wash programmes and practical programmes and it is easy to find reasonable priced models across the market.Choosing the right model needn’t be complicated with useful washing machine buying guide on hand on the majority of sites, full of practical help and advice to help you make sense of everything. If we all did our bit for the environment by switching to more energy efficient household appliances and making other minor changes to the way that we live, the world would be a lot healthier place to live. So why not go green today?–
