It is time for companies to look carefully at the breakfast foods they produce, according to one expert.
Following a survey published this week that found many of the most popular cereals on the market to be high in sugar content, a spokesperson for the organisation behind the research has spoken out.
Sue Davies, chief policy adviser of Which?, called on manufacturers to consider the ingredients they are putting in to such products - particularly those aimed at children.
"Breakfast is important and some cereals deserve their healthy image, but most simply don't," she said.
"With such little choice, it's a daily struggle for consumers," Ms Davies added.
Of course, one option for ensuring the first meal of the day is to consider eating more fruit, as well as buying fresh orange juice and perhaps even yoghurts.
These foods could be kept fresher for longer in a new, efficient fridge-freezer - such as the A++ rated Bosch
