Consumers 'getting more energy-efficient'

More people are turning to energy-efficient kitchen appliances, according to a recent study.

Research conducted by uSwitch.com found 78 per cent of households have become more aware of their carbon footprint within the last 12 months and have acted upon it.

It was noted 60 per cent of people believe buying white goods that carry the Energy Saving Recommended logo is important and aware this will save them cash in the long-term.

Less than one per cent said they think an energy-efficient kitchen appliance will make no real difference to how much electricity they use.

Ann Robinson, director of consumer policy at uSwitch.com, said people need to consider the possible savings of investing in greener products.

"They could miss out on the longer-term savings to be made from investing in making their homes more energy-efficient. This caution is natural, but it smacks of a missed opportunity," she adds.

Bosch's SMV50E00GB dishwasher could be a good purchase for those looking to cut electricity bills as the unit is A-rated for washing, drying and overall energy performance.
