As with most things to come out of the USA, the American style fridge freezer (or side by side fridge freezer as some people prefer to call it) is huge, and as with most things, un-necessarily so, but that hasn’t stopped our love affair with them here in the UK. Last week, whilst browsing the appliance range in my local electrical retailer outlet (which shall remain nameless) I fell in love with the Samsung RSG5DUMH Fridge Freezer. This may seem a strangely specific choice, but I am now convinced that this is one of the best American fridge freezers on the market, and here’s what I like about it:
Starting at the front; the water and ice dispenser is digital, meaning no flimsy paddles but instead an ‘espresso style’ dispenser (nice!),which will also dispense your choice of either crushed or cubed ice; the inside of the fridge is lit by LED lighting, which as well as being very cool, lights up every corner of the fridge; the drawers at the bottom of the fridge and freezer are large, roomy, and on rollers, making the contents easy to access; the glass shelves above are well built and durable with the ability to extend or make shallower (also on rollers); the fridge has a sturdy wine rack built in and also a rack in the door of the fridge for your cans.
To sum up, what I really love about this product (apart from the amazing ice and water dispenser) is not only that they clearly had the consumer in mind when designing this product, but how well made it is; you don’t worry that if you pull a drawer out to hard it will break, or that the bottle rack may give way any minute. Also it benefits from Samsung’s Twin Cooling Plus System, which cools the fridge and freezer compartments separately each with its own evaporator. This basically ensures that cold air from the freezer doesn’t travel into the fridge, meaning that the fridge maintains the high humidity level needed to preserve the freshness of your food. Need I say more!
Editors note; The Samsung RSG5DUMH has been discontinued. Fortunately the very large capacity fridge freezers in the new Samsung G series are even better.
