Wash shoes and muddy sports kits with the Indesit IWDC6125S

If you're a member of a sporty household or a family with children or teenagers, the winter months can pose a serious problem with muddy sports kits. Rugby, football, hockey and cross country enthusiasts will stop for nothing – not even the wet weather. And school children tend not to have much of a choice (no matter how much they protest). So you need to best tools to handle the mess that ensues.

The Indesit IWDC6125S washer dryer provides a couple of fantastic settings for the sportsperson; "Special Shoes", "Sports Light" and "Sports Intensive". So what do these setting do?

  • Special Shoes is the first programme specifically designed for sports shoes and trainers. It keeps them like new, saving you the time and effort needed to wash shoes by hand. During the wash and dry cycles the shoes stay close to the side of the drum so they don't knock, scrape or fall over each other, ensuring noise is also reduced.
  • Sports Light is designed to clean and care for synthetic gym clothes - sweaty but not muddy.
  • Sports Intensive is ideal for cleaning muddy football or rugby kits.

Gone are the days of washing shoes and rewashing dirty sports kits, each programme washes and dries the items at the push of a button, leaving you free to have a much needed sit down. Maybe soak your feet after all that activity! And your teenagers will never be able to use the "my gym kit's dirty" excuse again!!

Remember though when you wash your football boots always, ALWAYS remove the studs before hand.  If you're going to wash football boots after a big game don't do it straight away!  Let the mud dry first, then it becomes easier to get rid of especially if its caked on (I usually knock them against a wall, it will make the mud fall off).  If there are removable studs, get rid of them.  Lets face it football studs and a washing machine drum shouldn't meet.  Don't forget your towels as well, putting a clean sports kit into a bag with a damp towel that hasn't been washed will leave your kit reeking

Good point, thanks Liam. If your gym bag gets a bit stinky its a good idea to invest in a machine washable one, then you can bung it in with your sportswear and stop the transfer of nasty smells.
