What is fuzzy logic?

When you're looking to purchase a washing machine appliance, or even learn how yours works properly, there are wealth of programmes available which can often seem overwhelming.

Most people start their search to replace an existing appliance which may be several years old. What you might be shocked to discover is how much kitchen appliances have developed over the past few years alone. There are now some remarkably high tech appliances on the market which to the new buyer may pose complex problems.
In this post we’re going to focus on fuzzy logic. This is featured on many tumble dryer and washing machine appliances (such as the Hoover OPH614 Washing Machine) and the name gives little clue as to the benefits it offers.

What does fuzzy logic do?

Fuzzy logic can sound like a magic function because it enables you to leave the judgement of when

your washing is done to your machine. It is available across all laundry appliances (although not every machine has fuzzy logic) and does the following on each machine:

Tumble dryers - sensors in the drum measure the moisture in the laundry. When the clothes are dry the cycle will automatically end. This takes the guesswork out of drying clothes, saving you energy on overestimated timed cycles and preventing you taking still-wet clothes from the machine.

Washer dryers - sensors inside the washer dryer automatically adjust the programme according to the wash load. Depending on the machine fuzzy logic can adjust wash times, temperatures and drying times by weighing and sensing the water absorbed by the fabric. This is a fantastic feature on washer dryers which allows you to wash and dry your laundry at the push of a button.

Washing machines – measures how much dirt is in the load and calculates the amount of water and detergent required for the best wash results. This benefits you by giving the best wash performance with the lowest water, detergent and energy consumption.

I hope this post has been useful to you, if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask in the comments section below.
