In anticipation of Mother’s Day this Sunday, today’s post will focus on Mums. Mummy blogging is a trend that’s sweeping the world...or at least the World Wide Web! Sites like Mumsnet are rising in popularity as they facilitate a place for Mums to chat with other parents about anything from potty training to politics, without having to leave the house. And quite a stir they’re creating too.
An army of blogging mums have taken the internet by storm so in the theme of internet-savvy parenting, this week’s top five will focus on the best Mums blogs. Those which I’ve found the most compelling, interesting and entertaining!

1. Baby Budgeting
This is a very useful blog by Becky Goddard-Hill, author of How To Afford Time Off With Your Baby. Each post offers useful tips for cutting the costs of raising children (estimated to be a whopping £200,000 at last report) and insights into her own life as a stay at home mum.
2. A modern mother
Written by Susanna, who somehow finds the time to blog in between being a mum of three and running the British Mummy Blogger Network. Her posts have been voted in the top 100 parent blogs as well as Cision’s top UK blogs.
3. Babyrambles
Scribed by Emily O, stay at home Mum of three, Babyrambles is both insightfully touching and informative. Emily covers a range of topics from personal experiences of miscarriage to the hilarious things her kids say. The following conversation with four year old Podge had me in stitches:
Me: "Which character would you like to dress up as?"
Podge: "Yes that's a good idea, I want to feed carrots to a horse,"
Me: "That's nice darling. But which character from a book would you like to dress up as?"
Podge: "Yes and I could feed carrots to a donkey too! Do goats eat carrots?"
Me: "Yes you could and they do, yes. But I'm talking about characters in a book darling. Not carrots,"
Podge: "Carrots in a book?"
Me: "What's your favourite book darling?"
Podge: "Thomas,"
Me: "And what's your favourite Thomas character?"
Podge: "Murdoch. But you can't get train outfits for people Mummy."
4. Are we nearly there yet Mummy?
In “Are we nearly there yet Mummy?” Laura blogs about motherhood – or the longest journey she’s ever had. Posts are wittily written and my favourite is the anecdote of the Leeds to London flight where Laura found herself on emergency exit duty...
“Once the seat-belt sign went off the air hostess asked me if I had familiarised myself with the instructions. As I tightened the strap on my seat-belt I told her that when … I mean, if, I was required to open the door would she give me the nod? She must have thought I was on day release from the home for the terminally bewildered.”
5. SuburbanmummyUK
Suburban Mummy emigrated from Sydney to London and writes about her experiences as a Mum. My favourite thing about this blog is the stunning photography, taken by Suburban Mummy herself. Check it out...
I hope you enjoy reading these blogs as much as I have. A happy Mother’s Day to all Mums, and please keep on blogging!
