Well done to Belling this week - the manufacturer has received a Red Dot Design award for its BI60i eco induction oven. Yes, that’s right, induction technology used in an oven!!
The Belling BI60i is a unique built-in appliance that uses induction technology in the main oven cavity. It is the first ever induction oven to be introduced and uses an impressive 50 per cent less energy than an A rated oven.
The patent pending 6-in-1 oven uses an integrated induction plate inside the oven cavity and is capable of slow cooking, roasting, grilling, steaming, fan cooking and baking casseroles. The Belling BI60i comes with a unique cast iron pot as well as a steaming and roasting trivet for induction cooking using the slow cooking, casseroles, steaming and roasting modes.
The Red Dot awards rank alongside the iF Design Awards and the IDEA Design Awards as one of the most coveted international honours in product design. They are awarded every year by the Design Centre of North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany.
This year 4,252 products were presented by 1,636 companies from 57 countries – so as you can imagine, competition was extremely fierce. However, Belling managed to impress the international judging panel with the BI60i’s innovation, design, quality of build and functionality.
