How clean is your house? The Simply Living Report

Who does the most cooking in your household and how often do you hoover? It would never occur to me to ask people these questions but LG and Consumer Analysis Group Ltd have and they’ve put the answers into the Simply Living Report. Things they found include;

•    One third of Brits vacuum every day.
•    39% of us think we spend too much time doing chores.
•    36% of people do at least one wash load a day but more surprisingly almost a quarter of people actually enjoy doing it.
•    54% of people said energy efficiency was something they looked for in a washing machine.
•    42% of the population won’t make a meal if it takes longer than 30 minutes to prepare and cook.
•    71% of people say that the credit crunch had no affect on their eating habits.
•    Londoners are the least likely people to cook a meal every day.
•    Twice as much food is thrown away in London as in the whole of Northern Ireland (although this is less surprising when you consider the differences in population).
•    22% of the respondents in their 20s never do their own laundry.
•    Women still do more cleaning with 61% of woman taking primary responsibility for household chores.

Just in case you’re wondering the report interviewed over 1003 people aged between 20 and 80 from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland and asked about cooking, cleaning and washing habits. The picture is of LG's massive 11kg washing machine the F1443KD.
