If you’re reading this then the chances are that you’re fairly web-savvy and if you’ve spent a lot of time online then you’re also probably aware of how big a distraction YouTube can be. Well today’s post is only going to exacerbate that problem by looking at a cross section of the washing machine videos you can find online.
Washing machine videos tend to fall into five or six categories which are as follows (click on a category to see an example);
The exceptionally inane – people who film their washing machine or somebody else’s for no apparent reason. The example in this video is only 22 seconds long but they can be over 10 minutes in length.
Alternative tech – not so much a video about washing machines as a video about some other issue that happens to concern washing machines. This video has poor sound quality but looks at an interesting alternative to the standard machine.
Inappropriate usage – inappropriate and often destructive use of appliances like in this world record attempt.
Old models – want to see what washing machines looked like in the 80s? Want to see how those same washing machines perform today? Videos like this one from New Zealand look at appliances which should have been consigned to a skip long ago.
Horror stories – when something’s broken what’s the first thing you do? Film it and put it on the internet of course. There are dozens of videos like this one and the most common cause is that the transit bolts have been left in (find out more about that in the common problems post).
Ads – some ads are worth watching, some aren’t. This one seems to be for Germany’s answer to James Bond.
