A new month means a new Which? magazine and in this case it’s particularly relevant to our customers. This month the Which? test lab takes a look at a range of common household appliances including hobs, ovens, washing machines and fridge freezers.
As always with Which? the results make an enlightening read so I won’t reveal too much (like which £130 gas hob out performed a £400 induction model) but there is one interesting point I’d like to raise about washing machines.
Because Which? test dozens and dozens of washing machine each year it’s not practical for them to print reviews of all of them at the same time which means that this month’s magazine only includes 5 best buy machines. I don’t think these provide a fair representation of the market; the cheapest model featured is listed as costing over £500 while the most expensive is very nearly £1000. You really do not have to spend this amount of money to buy a decent washing machine – in fact if you’re willing to sacrifice convenience for cost (I put myself in this category) then there are plenty of washing machines out there that meet your needs and cost a fraction of that price.
So don’t be disheartened if you read this month’s Which? and think you have to spend a fortune to get a good appliance – just log on to their website to see the full list and you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
