Kitchen design of the week!

It’s an exciting time, a creative time, and a very stressful time. You’ve saved up/got a loan/remortgaged/sold a kidney, and you’re ready for your new kitchen. So if you’re anything like me you’re completely, utterly, beyond any shadow of a doubt, stumped.

Obviously you want your new kitchen to be beautiful, functional, family friendly, child proof and as the room which I believe is at the heart of the home, it needs to be all these things and more. I am in the final stages of purchasing a repossessed property and I am starting to get very nervous about the amount of work necessary to make this shell of a house the home of my heart’s desire. Where do you start?

I’ve taken to using my weekends dragging the family round kitchen showroom after kitchen showroom, marvelling at marble worktops (and coughing at the cost!). There are so many decisions to make: built in or built under? Black, white or sky blue pink? Every choice I make today will be with me for the next decade. It has to be the right one.

But there is a light at the end of the tunnel...in my search for the perfect kitchen I came across these beautiful specimens by Baker and Baker. You can’t go wrong with a classic design like this (on the left). But the one that really struck me was the super cool lit up party kitchen below – wow!! This is the best kitchen design I have seen in all my searching and definitely qualifies for kitchen design of the week!
