It’s that time of year again. The time to get out your eggs, milk and Jif lemon, and make some flipping fantastic pancake attempts. If you don't have a recipe, here are the basics:
You will need:

- 100g (4oz) plain flour
- 1 egg
- 300ml (1/2 pint) milk
- optional pinch salt
Simply beat the egg and milk together before slowly adding the flour. Leave to stand for 30 minutes before cooking.
Heat some oil or melt some butter in a frying pan, then when it is hot coat the bottom of the pan with the batter and fry for a few minutes on bth sides until cooked.
But what’s the best appliance to cook your pancakes on? Well, at Appliance Online we've come up with a few...
- The Leisure GR6GVCP comes with a griddle which is great for the scotch pancake variety – think of them...all thick and layered with golden syrup.
- For a light crepe style pancake, a gas cooker such as the C60GCIK from Cannon offers very responsive hob cookery at the high heat necessary for such a delicate endeavour. Finish them off with Nutella and cream. Bon appétit!
- And for those of us who only make pancakes once a year, splattering the kitchen floor, ceiling, and walls with gay abandon, the Indesit KDP60C Electric cooker is a fantastic appliance. With its flat, crevice-free ceramic hob this cooker offers superbly easy cleaning – because who wants to be scraping flour and egg out of the hob burners for the next 12 months?
Happy Pancake Day everyone! I wish you well in your attempts.
