How to find out the cut out size for your new hob

If you’re installing a built in kitchen including the hob you’ll need to make a hole in your worktop in which to place your new appliance. This hole is called the cut out, or aperture.

Before you install your hob (or pay someone to do it) you’ll need to know the size of the cut out.

If you’re replacing a hob and don’t want to change your entire worktop you’ll need to know the size of the cut out before you purchase a new model.
Where can I find the size of the cut out?

Cut out sizes are usually around 2-3cm smaller than the actual dimensions of the hob. For example the Indesit P1640ASIX gas hob is 58cm x 51cm but its cut out needs to be 55.5cm x 17.5cm.

The exact size will be written in the product manual and is often accompanied by installation diagrams to help you along the way.

If you need to know the cut out size before you buy the easiest way to do this is to ask the retailer or manufacturer and they will be able to find out this information for you. At Appliances Online we often list cut out size in the product spec but we also have a Question and Answer facility on each of our product pages for any questions you need to ask.
