Dreaming of Fridges: From the Mind of a Technophile

To put this post into context, I first need to explain a bit about myself. I’m a 20ish year old man who is a self-confessed, and very proud, technology geek. I like things with specifications and complicated instructions. I’d love to have a Rude Goldberg machine in my house.

I’ve been dreaming of appliances lately. Last night I dreamt of the fridges I’d most like to own. Yes, I don’t just have one dream fridge; I have a plethora, neatly lined up in my imagination between my garage of dream cars and my favourite fiction.

Why choose several? Well, why not? In your dreams anything is possible. It’s easy to imagine a kitchen large enough to accommodate all of them.

How many people decorate their fridges?  I mean properly adorn them, not just slap a few magnets on. I only ask because I have the bizarre idea of turning this blue Smeg fridge into the Tardis. Plus, inside does feel more spacious than you'd think.

2001: A Space Odyssey was a groundbreaking science fiction film. That’s why I must have this in my kitchen, a Siemens fridge that closely resembles the iconic alien obelisk first uncovered by mankind’s ancestors. It might seem intimidating for some, but I love the idea of kitting out my kitchen to resemble the interior of a space-ship and this fridge would fit perfectly.

Who wouldn’t want to display their holiday snaps on the front of their fridge? The LCD touch screen on this Samsung fridge even lets you write notes and has a built-in calendar. Obviously you can also vary the temperatures with ease too. Who needs an iPad, eh?

The last of my dream fridges is truly epic in scope. It is the Optimus Prime (a robot from Transformers) of fridges. This Baumatic looks as if it might transform into a life-size robot at any moment. When not warring with the Decepticons, this fridge is ideal for storing a ridiculous amount of food. There’s so much space in there you could live in it.
