In July 2011, news broke out that models of Beko Frost Free Fridge Freezers had safety issues. Of course, Beko have been doing everything they can to ensure affected models are quickly dealt with.
The good news for Appliances Online customers is that none of the models we have ever sold from Beko have been affected, meaning that if you have purchased your Beko fridge freezer from us, no matter what year, your fridge freezer is safe.
This is rumour control. Here are the facts.
So what exactly was the problem? Well, the defrost timer on a certain range of products could fail, overheat, and cause a potential fire hazard. Contrary to misconceptions, not every Beko product has been affected, only those manufactured between January 2000 and October 2006. But that’s still a lot of appliances.
As lots of people may have been away for the summer holidays, Beko are actively exploring alternative ways of reaching affected customers. This ranges from outward direct telephone calls to safety notices in national newspapers. Everything that can be done, is being done to protect Beko customers.
Thanks to the efforts of Beko and the Trading Standards office, from the 480,000 models affected, over 112,000 have been modified in a very short space of time.
Your plan of action
So, you think your fridge freezer might be affected. Well, it’s really easy to find out. Simply check the model number and the serial number found on the rating plate. (If

you’re unsure where this is, please look at the user manual). If your model starts with any of the following, then you should contact Beko ; 00, 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06.
Once again, Appliances Online customers can rest easy as none of the models we have ever sold from Beko have been affected.
Their phone number is 0800 009 4837 and they will arrange an engineer to visit you and make the needed modification. You won’t even have to get your appliance replaced. For your peace of mind, it only takes a minute to pick up the phone and find out if there’s anything you need to do.
