"Excellent Hob."
Pros: Quiet, looks good, hob fantastic, hob easy to clean
Cons: main oven complicated, ovens difficult to clean
"The hob is brilliant. It heats up virtually instantly (using boost feature), and is easy to control with the zone settings being visible as illuminated numbers on the hob. The hob is very easy to keep clean, as spillages do not burn on.
That said , the rest of the cooker is disappointing.
This is our third Belling cooker, the last being a Belling Format, whose construction " knocked spots " off this one.
The control panel has small, white-on- black numbers, is not back lit, and is set at a difficult angle to read (especially if you wear bifocals, as I do).
The ovens are smaller than the Format and have far lewer shelf posiitions, therfore less flexibility. They are also difficult to clean. The instruction booklet told us to remove the shelf runners prior to cleaning, incidentally the shelves are not as stable as those in the Format were. When I attempted to do so it was impossible, as the fittings are not intended to be removed. I contacted Belling and was told the instructions were for the previous model!
The grill pans with the Format had feet which fitted into the shelves, affording stability, and the shelves only pulled partially out before locking. There is no such safety aspect with the 60fsi merely a warning in the booklet.
Yes, the main oven does have many facilities, but in practice we only use a few, and are struggling to master those. The fan oven appears to be slower and cooler than our previous one, hence the difficulties. You are cooking by guesswork!
Finally, a point to note; we had no idea that there wasn't a plinth and the feet were visible as none of the advertising photographs showed this.
It may be worthwhile taking advantage of the extended warranty, as it will probably be expensive to repair."
