It’s a bit of a dark horse. The 4 burners on Hotpoint’s G640SK_BK gas hob are wonderfully integrated into the black enamel finish and the pan supports add to the overall aesthetic. There is a flame failure safety device as well as an automatic ignition so you won’t need to mess around with matches any more.

Hotpoint’s G640SK_BK gas hob has a dark side.

It has a passion for fire. Every time it lights up a burner it’s baring a part of its soul.

The finish on the G640SK_BK shows it’s true colours. The pan supports are black enamel. The finish is black enamel. It has a very dark soul indeed.

The 4 gas burners range from 1kW up to an impressive 3kW output. You can whip out your griddle pan and get to work on achieving the perfect fillet steak or blackened BBQ ribs. Though with one extreme comes the other. You can have devilishly delicious food on one side while having an angelically appetising, delicate béchamel sauce blipping away on the other side of the hob.

Good and evil. Innocence and experience. Light and dark. This hob has both.

Despite its fiery tendencies it has a sensitive side. It comes with an auto ignition system to prevent you from burning your fingers with matches and the flame failure safety device has your best interests at heart. It will cut off the gas supplies if the flame goes out, preventing any gas related mishaps in your kitchen.

It may be a beast, but it will be loyal to you.

"The black hob looks great in my new kitchen.

Find the burner controls a bit confusing. They don't seem to make sense eg the back burner control is at the front but I suppose I will get used to them."

"Good hob"

"I like the side location of buttons and flame safety device. Ignition works perfectly ( however the hob is 2months in use) I decided to buy black one because of black worktop-and it looks great. It's a bit tricky to clean-so I use olive, like for my stainless steel appliances."
