"Over 1 year ago we moved house and had to leave behind our De Deitrich induction hob, which had been our first and a wonderful piece of kit it was as well.
We had all the Le Cruset cast iron pans, so know how well they work on induction hobs.
Induction truly is the only sensible way to go.
Our present new home had a grotty Philips ceramic hob that would by comparison, lurch into life and spend ages and ages getting the top plate hot and then be a horror story to try and control. It then went wrong.
The Bosch hob dropped straight into the cutout hole and took me no more than about 15 minutes to very carefully connect the power cable from the house to the power cable coming from the hob. Any good sparky would do the same - very easy to do.
The hob is a joy to behold, almost silent in operation and can boil a pint of cold water when on the largest hob position on 'boost', quicker than our 3kW kettle.
The control of the heat settings is both quick and accurate and will stay on a constant temperature for hours on end, unlike any gas cooker you would ever encounter.
It took a while to work out how to set the timer on each of the four separate cooking positions. There is one timer set of touch buttons in the middle and each time you press the timer 'clock' symbol a 'timer' symbol would appear against only one of the active cooking positions. You then set the time - simples!
There is a boil-over shutdown feature, that to be honest we have not had need of yet. One forgotten pan of milk on the boil and no doubt we will discover if that works well - I have no reason to suspect it will not.
The controls are a little different from my first induction hob, not more complicated, just different and I'm gradually getting used to the way they work. Soon I will forget about having to think about how to use them and they will have become second nature.
The shiny black finish of the surface looks great when clean and needs to cleaned almost constantly. A satin finish would probably have been better.
It will settle down and will become used and trusted. It is very impressive to both look at and use."
